Overview

The Plant Manager reports directly to the General Manager and is responsible for the overall plant production. In addition to directly supervising the Plant Engineer and Operations team, the Plant Manager is directly involved in Environmental, Health, and Safety functions and may oversee Maintenance. The Plant Manager works closely with the Operations Engineering Manager and Biorefining leadership team to maximize operation efficiency. The team member in this position is accountable for all plant operations and production goals. The Plant Manager troubleshoots and identifies process needs to maintain production levels. POET biorefineries operate on a 24-hour continuous schedule; team member must be available as needed.
 

Qualifications

To perform the essential functions of this position successfully, an individual should be able to demonstrate and provide the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree or greater in a specialized field, Engineering degree preferred.
  • 5 years management experience in an operating processing plant environment such as grain or chemical processing required.
  • Additional training in microbiology and team building preferred.
  • Two years of experience with DCS control and PI Historian Database systems is helpful.
  • Knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite and the ability and willingness to learn new software applications.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills as well as the ability to adapt to change.
