  • Do you want to change the world by designing and overseeing health and safety programs that ensure a safe working environment for POET Team members? The Health & Safety Program Specialist collaborates across 28 POET Bioprocessing facilities to create, update, and implement effective programs to ensure all staff perform work safely. In addition, this person assists in analyzing, troubleshooting and resolving potential health and safety problems with plant operations. As a creative and innovator thinker, the Program Specialist must be able to work effectively in a team environment throughout POET. This position reports to the Health and Safety Manager.


    To perform the essential functions of this position successfully, an individual should be able to demonstrate and provide the following:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Health & Safety, Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or related Science with three (3) years of industry experience or a Master’s degree in a related field with no prior industry experience is required.
    • Construction safety experience is beneficial.
    • OSHA (30 hour) Certification preferred.
    • Beneficial: Construction safety experience, Certified Safety Specialist (CSP), HAZWOPER, ASSE, and National Safety Council Workplace Certification.
    • Knowledge in Word, Excel, and Outlook and the ability and willingness to learn new software applications.
    • Excellent organizational skills, time management, and communications skills, as well as ability to adapt to change.
