  • The tax accountant is responsible for providing support to POET’s tax function. To succeed in this role, you should have an eye for detail, an interest in learning about tax regulations and laws and a desire to take personal responsibility for completing tasks and solving problems. This position is ideal for a results driven, deadline-oriented, candidate with strong analytical skills.

     

    This accountant is a member of the corporate tax department and is involved in tax compliance, tax planning and decision-making throughout the year, working as part of a team to accomplish goals.

     

     

    • Prepare tax returns, tax provisions and supporting workpapers for corporations, flow-through entities and individuals.
    • Prepare POET’s monthly income tax accrual and calculate required estimated tax payments.
    • Responsible for becoming familiar with current tax theories and laws and performing procedures in accordance with company standards and in an accurate, thorough and timely manner.
    • Research filing requirements and tax issues using internal revenue code, treasury regulations and other relevant authorities/guidance.
    • Maintain a high level of customer service.
    • Foster a culture of safe behavior and environmental compliance at all times.
    • Maintain a team environment at all times and champion POET in the community.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    To perform the essential functions of this position successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
    • Minimum 3.0 GPA in both your major and overall
    • Knowledge in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook and the ability and willingness to learn new software applications
    • Solid interpersonal and customer service skills
    • Ability to handle multiple priorities
    • Excellent organizational skills, communications skills, and most importantly, the ability to work well in a team
    • CPA license a plus

     

    WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

     

    This position is largely self-directed and requires understanding of company policy, procedures, and values.

    This position operates in an office environment.  In the office, the team member will work on a personal computer.  Team members will be required to adhere to all safety requirements in all work environments. Minimal travel requirements.
