JOB SUMMARY

This position will work directly with a progressive reliability team that is leading the continuing evolution of POET’s asset management strategy. The team member coordinates the fixed equipment inspection program, which includes daily support, coordinating the on-stream inspection program, and development and execution of the inspection scope for outages. The team member is responsible for setting expectations and coordinating contract inspection service resources. The reliability team is made up of Reliability Engineers, Vibration Analysts, Electrical & Instrumentation Engineers, Fixed Equipment Specialist, Maintenance Managers and Technicians. 


DURING A TYPICAL DAY 

  • Ensure the integrity of all pressure vessels, tanks, piping and pressure safety valves.
  • Partner with the reliability team to develop a repair scope and plan for defects detected.
  • Identify compliance and inspection gaps, reports findings and recommendations to sites.
  • Writing and reviewing reports that record the inspections.
  • Strictly follow internal policies and procedures.
  • Provide support for routine maintenance and unit outages.

 

STRENGTHS OF A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE

  • The ideal candidate will have experience inspecting fixed equipment (piping, heat exchangers, tanks and pressure vessels, etc).
  • Proven years of visual inspection experience strongly preferred.
  • Nondestructive Evaluation experience strongly preferred.
  • Certified in at least one of the following American Petroleum Institute (API) (510, 570, 653) with the drive and determination to obtain more.
  • Practical Knowledge in ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel and Piping Codes required.
  • Knowledgeable of inspection and repair requirements in American Petroleum Institute (API), American Society for Mechanical Engineers (ASME), National Board Inspection Code (NBIC) and state/local regulations.
  • Basic knowledge of damage mechanisms leading to equipment failure such as corrosion, erosion, chloride stress corrosion cracking, etc.
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, and execute jobs to address identified opportunities.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills as well as the ability to drive change across multiple sites.
  • Experience with Maintenance management systems such as Maximo is preferred.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills as well as the ability to embrace change.
  • You know the basics of Microsoft Office Suite. You’re capable of learning new programs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Up to 75% travel will be part of the norm for this position to visit the bioprocessing facilities, meetings, and site visits. Overnight travel will be required.
  • Team members will be required to adhere to all safety requirements at all times and in all work environments. This position is exposed to work in multiple environments, including plant, laboratory, as well as an office environment. You may be exposed to high noise levels, moving mechanical parts, dusty conditions, internal and external temperature/weather conditions, and chemicals.
  • In this role, you’ll be asked to drive a POET vehicle. A motor vehicle record check will be conducted during the preemployment process and yearly thereafter.
  • Specific physical requirements may include:
    • Occasionally lifting weight up to sixty (60) pounds.
    • Climbing several flights of stairs and ladders.
    • Opening valves.
    • Occasionally bending, twisting and turning while lifting weight of less than fifty (50) pounds.
    • Data entry while seated for greater than one (1) hour.
    • Walking up to two (2) or more miles per day.
    • Pushing brooms, shovels, etc.
    • Working at heights, in confined spaces and at temperatures from -20 to +100 degrees.
    • Standing for extended periods of time.
    • Wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
    • Using hand and power tools.
