JOB SUMMARY

The Tax Accountant is responsible for providing support to POET’s tax function. To succeed in this role, you should have an eye for detail, an interest in learning about tax rules and laws and a desire to take personal responsibility for completing tasks and solving problems. This position is ideal for a results-driven, positive-minded candidate with strong analytical skills.

This team member is a valuable part of the corporate tax team and is involved in tax compliance, tax planning, and decision-making throughout the year, working as part of a team to accomplish goals. If tax accounting interests you but a tax season doesn’t, then this job is for you!

DURING A TYPICAL DAY

  • Prepare tax returns and tax provisions for a multifaceted group of entities included in POET’s consolidated corporation.
  • Calculate required estimated tax payments by accurately applying tax laws and rules, and integrating forecasted data from various software applications.
  • Collaborate with other teams on gathering accurate data and the integration of process improvements.
  • Support company in compliance with non-income taxes such as property tax, sales tax, excise tax and payroll tax.
  • Participate in a variety of engaging training opportunities that provide role-specific skills or even an update on the latest tax legislation.
  • Use an industry-leading research platform to examine filing requirements and tax issues through the internal revenue code, treasury regulations and other relevant authorities/guidance.

STRENGTHS OF A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE

  • You have an Undergraduate Degree in Accounting, required.
  • Solid interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Excellent organizational skills, communications skills, and most importantly, the ability to work well in a team.
  • You know the basics of the Microsoft Office Suite, and look forward to improving on this knowledge.
  • You have a positive attitude and are excited about learning new skills!
