JOB SUMMARY

The Logistics Specialist plays an integral role in coordinating transportation of equipment and materials in a timely and cost-effective manner.  You will work closely with vendors and transportation companies in a professional atmosphere to maintain up to date information on order status and arrange logistics to ensure items reach their destination.  You will also maintain a key role in helping to support project timelines by maintaining up-to-date information to keep stakeholders informed on delivery status and timing.

 

DURING A TYPICAL DAY

  • Establish and manage relationships with logistics providers to create a network and system that allows safe, timely, and cost-effective delivery of equipment and materials.
  • Work closely with the project management team to arrange logistics for delivery of equipment and materials to project sites.
  • Provide support and guidance to the bioprocessing facilities on utilization of the most effective logistics methods for shipping needs.
  • Create purchase orders for freight that you arrange, and maintain tracking of shipments.
  • Work closely with vendors to maintain tracking of project management purchase order receipt and up-to-date information on vendor’s ability to achieve need-by-dates to maintain project timelines.
  • Provide support and backup to the Purchasing Specialist team to receive and review purchase requests for completion and authorized approvals, and to obtain quotes and prepare and update purchase orders.
  • Ongoing and effective communication with POET team members.

STRENGTHS OF A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 3+ years of relevant logistics experience.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills as well as the ability to embrace change.
  • You communicate effectively in writing and in person.
  • You have the ability to understand technical and day to day operation of a bioprocessing facility.
  • You know the basics of Microsoft Office Suite. You’re capable of learning new programs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Up to 25% travel will be part of the norm for this position to visit the bioprocessing facilities, meetings and site visits. At times overnight travel may be required.
