JOB SUMMARY

The Finance Transformation Analyst plays a key role in the strategic priority of transforming POET’s finance and accounting capabilities – driving best in class processes and performance and relentless improvement. This role acts as a change agent by creating new ways of working, challenging conventional wisdom, and supporting an environment where innovation thrives. The Finance Transformation Analyst works with cross-functional teams to identify areas for improvement, develop plans for change, and monitor progress toward goals. Collaboration with POET’s finance and IT teams is key to the success of this role.

 

DURING A TYPICAL DAY:

  • Curating, evaluating, and refining new ideas that streamline finance processes, systems and workflows
  • Assessing, testing, and recommending new financial tools and software solutions to support digital transformation and process modernization and executing these solutions alongside stakeholders to equip them to own going forward
  • Identifying opportunities to improve financial processes by leveraging existing system capabilities and upgrade offerings
  • Identifying inefficiencies, waste, process duplication, and activities that aren’t providing value and overseeing elimination of those processes and practices
  • Promoting continuous improvement through process reengineering and designing tools that include process automation
  • Taking financial reporting to the next level by equipping teams with robust dashboarding capabilities and interactive reporting tools
  • Developing and communicating business cases to support recommendations for change to current business practices and processes, ensuring support of value-add projects and implementation of the right changes at the right time
  • Communicating effectively with stakeholders to gain buy-in and provide support for transformation initiatives
  • Supporting change management efforts by assisting with training and communication plans and facilitating the adoption of new tools, processes, and systems
  • Monitoring and assessing the effectiveness of implemented changes, making adjustments as needed
  • Continuously providing new ideas, engaging feedback, challenging the status quo and championing change

STRENGTHS OF A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE:

  • You have a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • You have 5 years of relevant experience in accounting and financial reporting processes combined with finance system transformation and/or implementation experience (PMI and/or Lean certification is a plus).
  • You are a change agent – you hate the answer, “because we’ve always done it this way” and drive continual process improvement.
  • You have the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels, gaining buy-in for process improvements and strategic initiatives.
  • You are passionate about creating something out of nothing without needing pride in ownership. It’s fulfilling to see your product being further developed and maintained by others.
  • You drive change and motivate others to embrace new ideas and methodologies.
  • You excel in strategic thinking, identifying long-term opportunities for financial optimization and aligning them with organizational objectives. Your ability to anticipate future trends and challenges positions the organization for sustained success.
