JOB SUMMARY

The Process Specialist is responsible for analyzing plant data, developing reports, and assisting with plant operations.  The Process Specialist must be able to effectively work in a team environment both on site with the operations group as well as with contacts at the POET Bioethanol plants.

 

DURING A TYPICAL DAY

  • Onsite troubleshooting, training and start-up support.
  • Actively monitoring KPIs and DCS for opportunities to drive operational excellence.
  • Communicate with General Managers/Plant Managers while partnering closely with the Operations Engineering Managers.
  • Writing and implementing standard operating procedures.
  • Complete data analysis of process information.
  • Develop and utilize historical database reports.                                      
  • Assist with start-up and optimization of new processes.
  • Assist in RCAs and implementation of fleetwide action items.
  • Process automation improvement support including process control loop tuning, alarm management support and automation sequence troubleshooting and standardization.
  • Assist in equipment defect identification and elimination. Provide input to Operations Engineering team on long term engineered solutions.
  • Maintain a team environment with other departments.
  • Champion POET in the community.
  • Maintain a high level of customer service and friendly atmosphere.

STRENGTHS OF A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; secondary education preferred.
  • Production or operational experience is required; operational background in ethanol production is preferred
  • 3 years of previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
  • You have experience with DCS control and DCS historian systems and process control logic
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills as well as the ability to embrace change.
  • You have the ability to understand technical and day to day operation of all areas of a bioprocessing facility.
  • You communicate effectively in writing and in person.
  • You possess the courage to provide constructive feedback and address issues directly.
  • You demonstrate grit and determination to dive deep into challenges and find effective solutions.
  • You know the basics of Microsoft Office Suite. You’re capable of learning new programs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Up to 50% travel will be part of the norm for this position to visit the bioprocessing facilities, meetings and site visits. At times overnight travel may be required.
  • In this role, you’ll be asked to drive a POET vehicle. A motor vehicle record check will be conducted during the preemployment process and yearly thereafter.
  • The work environment at POET is dynamic. You should expect a balance between time spent in the office and at the bioprocessing facility, which may include some physical labor helping your team members.
